Guardian Mask

Measurement instructions

  1. Measuring Horse’s forehead
Measure the distance from horse’s left pupil to right pupil using measuring tape

  1. Measuring the peripheral of horse’s jaws
Measure the distance from horse’s left pupil – underneath the jaws – to the right pupil using a measuring tape.

  1. Add the measurements for phases 1 and 2 together to get needed size/lenght for the mask.

Usage instructions

Center eye covers on head, adjust head strap first and then adjust throat latch for snug comfortable fit. Note** when removing, undo the throat latch and head strap gently. The ripping sound of the hook and loop, might startle your horse.
Make sure when your horse is wearing his mask, that it fits comfortably as there are adjustable straps under the chin and an adjustable poll strap. There should be several inches of overlap in the throat straps.

Maintenance instructions

Washing your Guardian Mask, use a hose with a nozzle and wash off the mask with pressure. You can also machine wash the mask, but only use non detergent soap and cold or warm water. However, it is recommended to hand wash the mask as for best results.
As all horses are built differently, in some cases, there might be chafing. To remedy this, sew on a piece of mole skin, fleece, or spandex to the part that is chafing. (Make sure the fit is appropriate and not too tight. The Mask must be worn loosely and can be worn under or over a bridle depending on what is comfortable for your horse).
To prevent injury the mask is designed to break away under extreme pressure at the poll strap if the horse becomes entangled.
If your horse is extremely rough on the exposed eye covers, you can e.g take them to a local shoemaker to have him sew leather around the outside of the eye covers which would reinforce the edges.

Equine Magnetic Therapy

Maintenance Instructions

It is highly recommended to hand-wash in cool water all magnets and air-dry them afterwards. You can – if your washing-machine contains the feature – machine-wash blankets and boots with gentle-cool water program. Never however dry-clean the magnets or put them into a dryer.

FAQ

  1. Q: How do BIOflex ® magnets work?
A: BIOflex® magnets feature a series of concentric circular poles. The circles are of variable width and alternate between the N and S poles. This magnetic field configuration is optimal for modulation of cellular processes related to blood flow and pain reduction. The magnets act like an electric heating pad to bring more blood to an area, increasing the nutrients and building blocks the damaged tissues need for repair. They also accelerate the clearance of toxic waste products resulting from the injury. All of this reduces swelling which irritates nerve endings, one of the major causes of post-injury or overuse musculoskeletal pain.
  2. Q: What Equine BIOflex ® magnets made of?
A: BIOflex® magnets are made of the combination of ferrite powders mixed throughout a polyethylene matrix.
  3. Q: Do magnets ever lose their strength?
A: BIOflex® magnets are designed for multiple applications and experience no loss of magnetic power over time.
  4. Q: What is Gauss?
A: The “power” of a magnet is usually represented by the term Gauss, which is the measure of the level of induction of a magnet. Ten thousand Gauss is equal to one Tesla, a newer term for the same thing.
  5. Q: Why are BIOflex® magnets lower in Gauss than some magnetic products on the market today?
A: BIOflex® magnets have the ability to “reach” into the tissues of the body at a greater depth than other magnetic designs. The feature of alternating poles of variable width ensures that the magnetic field will “reach” further away from the surface of the magnet than will the magnetic field of a magnet whose poles are closer together. BIOflex® magnets are designed to provide the proper gauss deep within the tissues.
  6. Q: What is the difference between electro-magnets and static-magnets?
A: The electro-magnets have to be plugged into an electrical circuit to work or carry its own generator electric pack, which will need to be charged. The static magnets (i.e. permanent magnets) work all the time without electricity.
Static magnets send a force into the body via the cells in the blood. Physicists recommend never to go over 1200 gauss on a living body. Equine Magnetic Therapy® magnets are 500 gauss and very effective because of the design within. BIOflex® are the only magnet that has achieved being register by the FDA and Health Canada (Like our FDA) as a medical device. BioFlex® had to prove that this magnet was superior to all other magnet on the market and different to get this label. Some of the largest hospitals in the world use BIOflex® magnets.
  7. Q: How do you ensure the safety of Equine Magnetic Therapy ® magnets?
A: Everything is tested for two years before we put it out on the market. Our magnets are designed for therapy only. Each magnet is rated at 500 gauss. Physicists all tell us never to go over 1200 gauss on the living body as it does damage cellular integrity.
  8. Q: How do you achieve sufficient depth penetration in your magnets?
A: Depth penetration is determined by the distance between polls, north and south, it has very little to do with strength. Effectiveness is determined by how well the veins and capillaries line up at a 90 degree angle to the north and south polls, very little to do with strength. BIOflex® concentric circle magnets guarantee accurate alignment with the affected blood vessels. This revolutionary, patented technology ensures the deepest penetration of the magnetic field to the affected area.
  9. Q: I’ve heard that South-field should be stayed away from, is it harmful to living cell?
A: There are some claims that electro-magnetic energy (South Field) causing inflammation but static magnets are natural and will not cause these problems. (Unless used to soon after an injury and then that would be because of the increase blood flow causing the swelling not the magnet. Never use a magnet right after an injury).
  10. Q: How are joint boots fixed together?
A: All our boots Velcro on. We supply a large amount of Velcro strap to fit most situations. Then the horsemen can cut off the excess Velcro. We buy the best quality fabric we can find and the best Velcro we can find. We do not buy inferior fabrics. When dealing with horses this would be a great mistake.
  11. Q: How long should a horse wear the magnets at time?
A: In a maintenance situation you can leave boots on for 1 hour or overnight. In a healing situation leave them on up to 20 hours a day for best results. 5 to 15 minutes on helps with pre-warm-up. It is highly recommended to wear the magnets while hauling. Pay attention of outside temperature while wearing the magnets. If it is too hot outside take them off.
  12. Q: Can I use liniment while using the magnet with my horse?
A: If you want to use liniment with magnets we highly recommend using products which do not create heat only as they’ve proven to be safe.
